Heard About This Place on the News

Posted by hereiam2 on 9/4/2008

First off, I loved the decor of this restaurant; however, this place needs to do some serious expanding. The crowd was definitely there and many parties had to wait for tables. It was entirely too cramped. There was no walking-room between tables which made it extremely difficult for waiters and waitresses to get through with trays of food. Plus, I felt like the table next to me, without even trying, was able to hear my conversation. But when it came to the food (the reason I visited the restaurant in the first place), this establishement was wonderful. I was able to sample food from each of my family members' entrees and I must say: it was wonderful. I forget the names of the entrees ordered, or else I would list them for outstanding reviews. The food was tremendously well. Yet I can not, in all honesty, give this restaurant five (5) stars because of the element of crowding. I felt like I was eating great food in the comfort of a shoebox. Perhaps, going on food alone, Atoines The Flavor of New Orleans would pass with flying colors! Also, there is live entertainment on some nights, so I am told, but on this particular night there was none. I'll call ahead next time to check for live music, poetry, etc. as I'm sure this will add to the Louisiana experience.

Great Potential

Warm welcoming atmosphere, although the tables are placed too close. A large party was there & wait time for our party of 5 was 1.5 hrs. As a former resident of New Orleans, it felt as though I was in the French Quarter having dinner with friends. The food, excellent.. ,bursting with flavor...authentic creole cusine. The crawfish were seasoned great, just tasted frozen. Expected fresh , since the crawfish are in season. The crab cakes, outstanding and my new favorite. The jambalaya and etoufee were warm with cayenne, although not overdone in it.The service left me feeling frustrated, wrong orders or incomplete orders coming to our table, with a very personable waiter who handled the problems with a great smile and witty humor. The highlight of our evening, aside from it being my fiance's birthday, were the Jazz musicians who played. Explosive best describes their sound. Patrons were eating, chair dancing, laughing and having a fantastic time. Thank you, you guys rock! You guys at FOVL..hang in there, get the little new buisness bugs worked out, and you have a winner that I hope to see around Valdosta for years & years. A new fan
